rent24 opens Flagship Coworking Space in Berlin-Mitte

Berlin, April 20 2017: The coworking and coliving provider rent24 opens a new location on more than 7,200 square meters at Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt this summer. Open working areas as well as individual offices, event spaces and lounge areas will describe the coworking space across the complete building on six floors in the Oberwallstraße. “We are pleased to offer our community such a special Space in Berlin-Mitte”, explains Robert Bukvic, Founder and CEO of rent24 GmbH. “It´s unique, and the demand is already enormous!”

The former department store unites tradition with modern architecture. In addition to the prestigious entrance area and the partially covered terrace area, for example event and working spaces will be created under a 13-meter high roof structure made of glass, also known as the “glass barrel”. “The rebuilding work will be completed in the next weeks, so that we will also be able to welcome our tenants here with the inspiring rent24 atmosphere, including private cinema and Cocktail-Happy-Hour”, announces Bukvic.

In 2013, the property was revitalized for the developer CELLS Group, which is also responsible for the property management. With the long-term lease by rent24, the building is now fully let. “The concept of rent24 ideally complements the tenant mix of the building complex”, says Norman Schaaf, COO of CELLS Bauwelt GmbH. Besides several IT companies, a fitness studio and various restaurants are tenants in the complex. “We are looking forward to the cooperation, and we expect that the entire micro-situation will benefit from the new tenant”, continues Schaaf. Cushman & Wakefield has brokered the leasing.

The new space is located at the Gendarmenmarkt, which is one of the most well-known spots in Berlin. The German Cathedral, French Cathedral and the Konzerthaus surround it. “On one hand, the area is historic, and on the other, modern and innovative”, says Bukvic in his description of the location of the new coworking space. “There is a variety of shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes in close proximity.” The Gendarmenmarkt is popular with both tourists and locals, especially during events such as the Classic Open Air for example or also the Christmas market in the winter.
